National Visa / Long-Term Visa

Documents Required

Pre-requisites

• Passport – Issued within the last 10 years, containing at least two blank pages, and valid for at least three months beyond the departure date.
• ID Photograph – As per Photo Specifications.
• UK Residency –
  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.
• Official Travel Document – If applicable, a Note Verbale is required.

Civil Status & Proof of Relationship

• Proof of the spouse’s French nationality, such as:
  • French passport or national identity card (valid or expired).
  • French nationality certificate (Certificat de nationalité française).
• Marriage Certificate – Must be:
  • A recent full copy, issued by a French town hall.
  • If married outside France, a transcribed marriage certificate from the French consular civil status register.
• Proof of cohabitation and ongoing marital life, including:
  • Joint utility bills, rental agreements, or property ownership documents.
  • Bank statements or tax declarations with both names.

Visa Type-Specific Requirements

 Short-Stay Visa (Up to 90 Days)

• Proof of accommodation –
  • Hotel booking, rental agreement, or Attestation d’Accueil from the local town hall in France.
• Proof of travel –
  • Confirmed return ticket (plane, ferry, bus, etc.).
• Proof of finance –
  • Bank statements from the last three months showing sufficient funds.

 Long-Stay Visa (More than 90 Days)

• Additional proof of the intention to reside in France, including:
  • A written declaration stating the intention to maintain marital life in France.
  • Joint household bills, joint bank account records, or letters from family/friends confirming cohabitation.
• Long-stay residence permit formalities – The VLS-TS visa must be validated online after arrival in France.

Proof of Accommodation

• Hotel booking or rental agreement, clearly stating the applicant’s full name, stay dates, and address.
• Attestation d’Accueil from the local town hall in France, if staying with a host.

Proof of Travel

• Confirmed return ticket (plane, ferry, bus, etc.).

Proof of Finance

• Bank statements from the last three months showing sufficient funds.

Travel Health Insurance

• Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical costs, including emergencies.

Photo Specifications

• Recent and True to Appearance: The photograph must reflect your current appearance and must not be older than six months.
• Size Requirements: The photo should be between 35 mm and 40 mm wide.
• Face Proportion: The face should occupy 32 mm to 36 mm(approximately 70-80% of the photo) from chin to forehead, excluding hair.
• Background: A plain, light-coloured backgroundis required, with no shadows or patterns.
• Expression: A neutral expression, with both eyes open and clearly visible. No excessive smiling or frowning.
• Head Position: The face must be cantered and looking directly at the camera.
• Glasses & Accessories: No tinted glasses, reflections, or glare; frames must not cover the eyes. Head coverings are only permitted for religious or medical reasonsand must not obscure facial features.
